Family members play a unique role in the care of their loved ones at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home.  We welcome you to visit and take part in the various activities scheduled by the Activity Department.

Activities are posted monthly on the bulletin calendar outside the Activity Room and 500 wing.  Residents who are able are encouraged to attend, as well as family members.  Daily activities are posted on the board outside the auditorium.

Monthly Birthday Parties

The Nursing Home provides a birthday party during the month for all residents with special mention made to those celebrating birthdays during that particular month.  Cake and beverages are supplied by the Nursing Home.  Entertainment is volunteered.  Family and friends are welcome to attend.  These events are scheduled on the monthly calendar.

Individual Birthday Parties or Celebrations

Family members of a resident who wish to have an individual party for a resident are welcome to have a party at the Nursing Home. Activity Staff will assist in arranging the party and the Nursing Home will provide tea or coffee.

Resident Council Meetings

Resident Council Meetings are held and are scheduled on the wall calendar by the auditorium.  All residents who are able are encouraged to attend.   The purpose of the Resident Council is to serve as a link of communication among residents, staff, and administration.  It provides opportunities for residents to voice their opinions and give suggestions concerning the Nursing Home.  Responses from administration will be prompt and in writing.  Family members are also welcome to attend these meetings.

Seniors Clothing Shops

There are clothing companies that design clothing especially for seniors who live in extended care facilities.  These companies visit our home in the Spring and Fall months.  The Nursing Home has catalogues so clothing can be ordered anytime.  Contact Office Staff or front desk at the Nursing Home.

Christmas Decorations

Family members provide the decorations for the residents room and are also responsible for putting them up and taking them down  If unable, please let the Activity Department know.  Prizes are given for the best decorated room.

Special Activities

Activities changes during the seasons.  During the summer, residents are able to enjoy van drives and other special outings.  Barbecues are often held in the afternoon bi-weekly weather permitting.  Family are invited to attend.  Walks outside and other outside activities ie. gardening in the raised garden boxes and in the garden.  There are frequent short van outing to see the surrounding sights of the Miramichi area.

Special Events

Smorgasbord, Mothers Day Tea, Fathers Day Celebration, Garden Party, 50/60's day, Boat Cruise, Oktoberfest, Remembrance Day Service, Hunting Trip, Christmas Party with Santa, New Years Party, Valentines Tea and Party, Halloween Party and St. Patrick's Day Party.  Family members and friends are welcome to attend these special events.  Other events in the community which residents attend include concerts, special bingo's and restaurant visits, etc.
