Meals on Wheels | Adult Day Program | Lifeline | Relief Care Program

Meals on Wheels

Initiated in 1978, this program offers hot nutritious noon meals prepared at our home to the seniors in the community.

This service is open to anyone who, for any reason, is unable to prepare their own meals. The program's main purpose is to allow clients to remain independent in their own home while receiving a nutritious noon meal.

The meals consist of soup or salad, meat or fish, potatoes and vegetables, bread, dessert, and milk.

The meals are prepared to meet certain standards in consultation with a qualified dietician.  Special diets can also be organized.

All our meals are delivered by friendly volunteers who will visit in your home.

Adult Day Program

The Adult Day Program is a service which helps senior citizens or people with disabilities to remain as  independent as possible in the community. The program also gives relief to families who may have a disabled or elderly loved one in their care. Also, the program serves in easing the transition to the Home from the community.

The Adult Day Program provides a daytime program of supervised recreational activities, personal counseling, assistance with personal hygiene and other medical needs. A Registered Nurse will monitor blood pressure/sugar if required.

Seniors form the community are picked up in the morning at their home in our special van, which is equipped with a wheel chair lift and, and are returned to their homes in the afternoon.

The Adult Day Program is also a place to make new friends and to catch up with news from the community.

Clients can be referred by a social worker, a family doctor, or come independently. The program operates Tuesday - Friday and costs $37.50 per day.

Lifeline

Lifeline is a system which allows you to live on your own with the knowledge and security that if you need help it is available anytime day or night.

The unit allows you to call for help with the push of a button.  It puts you in touch with someone who will talk to you and find out what help you need. This person will call one of you friends, neighbors or relatives who will come to your home to check on you.  If you need more professional help, your responder will call for it immediately.

The person who answers your call will know your history so that they can answer your call knowing already what your special needs are.

The button is lightweight and waterproof so it can be worn at all times.

The cost of the Lifeline system is minimal, and there aare no long term commitments.
